Houghton Golf Club
The Houghton Golf Club is located in the wealthy Johannesburg suburb of Houghton. The course has hosted the South African Open eight times and in 1993 was completely revamped and redesigned by Matkovich and Hayes. The Houghton Golf Course lies in softly undulating parklands and has beautiful tree-lined fairways planted with kikuya grass. Dotted with ponds and dams, an abundance of flowering shrubs provide great variety and colour. The site is a proclaimed bird sanctuary with Egyptian geese, guinea fowl, dikkhops, plovers and a variety of waterfowl in abundance.
