Barton-on-sea Golf Club
Barton-on-Sea Golf Club, founded in 1897, is situated on the coastal cliff between Highcliffe and Milford-on-Sea. The current 27 holes are a combination of the original Harry Colt design from 1932 and the newer holes designed by the well-known J. Hamilton Stutt, a founder member of the Association of British Golf Course Architects, which were completed in 1992. The course has three loops of nine holes which start and finish close to the clubhouse. Many forms of golfing challenge await the player from the shot over the water to the island green on Needles 9, to links style bump and run shots to the greens close to the coastline. Sea breezes also add to an enjoyable test of golf. Couple this with breathtaking sea views, and a pleasurable experience is guaranteed. Enjoy a meal or drink in the club's elegant and imposing clubhouse. This truly spectacular clubhouse commands superb views across the Solent to the Needles on the Isle of Wight, along to Old Harry Rocks at Swanage.
