Burnham & Berrow Golf Club
There are two fantastic golf courses at the Burnham & Berrow Golf Club, 'The Championship Course' and 'The Channel Course'. The Championship course is laid out in the traditional manner of nine holes out and nine back. The first nine skirt the sand dunes and coastline northwards, turning inland and southwards and then following the coast road through Berrow, past the Church and back into Burnham. The greens are renowned as true and quick and the course is guaranteed to be in good condition all year round due to the sandy subsoil. As with all links golf the challenging factor is the wind and its unpredictability ensuring a different and memorable experience everytime you play. The layout of The Channel Course is excellent with several extremely good holes which vie with some on the Championship Course. The course is approximately 3000 yards long and now has a redesigned 2nd hole and a new 8th hole (by Martin Hawtree). In 2006, nine new tees were added to make a nine hole, 18 tee course that is a real test of ability and a joy to play.
